Awareness and Prevention of Harassment

BCPSEA is pleased to announce the launch of a new e-learning opportunity.

Developed in conjunction with Open School BC, Awareness and Prevention of Harassment will provide participants with a better understanding of what harassment is, what actions and behaviours might be considered harassment, and what employees can do if they believe they’ve been harassed. This one-hour program, available only to BC public school employees, covers key harassment legislation and policy; it also includes sample scenarios, as well as a simulated harassment case in video format.

Fun and effective online format

The harassment awareness and prevention training offered by BCPSEA to assist districts in the administration of article E.2 of the Provincial Collective Agreement between the BC Teachers’ Federation and the BC Public School Employers’ Association was traditionally conducted by an instructor in a face-to-face format. This new, online program covers the same material in a contemporary, interactive way. Users will learn about harassment through informative online content, video clips, and interactive quizzes.

Any time, any place — and the right price

This online course allows employees to take the training when they want and where they want. All that’s needed is a modern computer with sound, an internet connection, a current web browser and Adobe Flash Player installed (free to download from Adobe).

Not only is the program convenient, it’s far cheaper than the traditional workshop delivery model. No more need to hire expensive trainers to deliver the training and no more release time costs and travel expenses for the participants. The online Awareness and Prevention of Harassment saves time and money. Most people will be able to complete the course in about one hour.

As well as being an efficient program for new staff, the online training is also an excellent refresher course for veteran staff who may have taken the mandatory training many years ago. It’s a great investment for everyone!
